- State figures show there were 887 suicides in Wisconsin in 2018. In Wisconsin four times as many people died by suicide than in alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. In more than half of all suicides a firearm was used.
- Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10-34 and the fourth leading cause for ages 35-44. The suicide rate was highest among individuals ages 45 – 54. Nearly four out of five people who die by suicide are male.
